With the launch of Digital India, the country has taken a big step forward towards ONE India. Attempts to bridge the Bharat-India divide have been made earlier as well. The failure happened on two counts: lack of political will and acknowledgement of technology as the key differentiator. Digital India promises to deliver given the political will of the Prime Minister. Luckily, given its potential to empower, no political formulation dare criticize the initiative today. The India Inc push for the initiative leading to a promise of Rs 4.5 lakh crore augurs well for young India. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) alone has promised Rupees 2.5 lakh crore for Digital India. With such all round robust backing, it is incumbent upon the government to flesh out an institutional framework to build the complete digital ecosystem. Time is ripe for seamless transition from (m)anual to (m)obile governance.
