The NDA government promised to maximize governance with minimum government. It has taken a big step in achieving this tall objective. The government says 1.25 lakh digital lockers have so far been opened. A small number today but the idea has enormous potential. Digital locker is a part of the Digital India initiative aimed at removing the need to keep physical documents quoting the Aadhar number. The digital locker hooks up citizens with the agencies that can verify them instantly. It also eliminates the threat of counterfeit documents and proves to be a great storage space as natural disasters cannot destroy the digital documents like they destroy physical documents. Government would do well to publicize the unique initiative to get citizens peaceful sleep. The only disclaimer here is that digital locker mercifully would not be able to store any black money.
